My Path to Conference Interpretation

There are many paths that lead to the same destination. For Yoshihito Kurasawa, an exclusive interpreter for Simul International, Inc., that destination was to become a conference interpreter, and he reached there after a long and winding road that saw him begin professional training in his 40s.

“Perhaps I took the long way around, making stops here and there, but that was a path in itself — the path I chose to take. It might have taken a long time, but I am here, living my dream.” (Kurasawa)

Yoshihito Kurasawa

Mr. Kurasawa graduated from Department of English and American Studies at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and later studied Theology in the Graduate Program at the University of Portland.

He worked at Embassy of Japan in Nepal, Epson Portland Inc., Consulate-General of Japan in Portland, Nagano Olympic Organizing Committee, Embassy of Finland in Japan, etc.

He has been engaged in conference interpreting as exclusive interpreter of Simul International, Inc. since April, 2000.

He is the author of Inaka Shonen ga Idonda Kaigitsuyakusha e no Michi (Seluba Shuppan) and Seishin (Bungeisha).
