Laura Burian
Laura Burian is a Professor of Chinese/ English interpretation and Dean of the Graduate School of Translation, Interpretation, and Language Education (GSTILE) at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS), where she earned her MA in translation and interpretation. As a Mandarin/ English conference interpreter, she has a dynamic international portfolio of clients ranging from top-ranked government officials to the Olympics. She is also a frequently invited public speaker, with a TEDx talk that is often used as a primer on translation and interpretation, and freelance musician, playing in both classical music ensembles and folk music bands (link to most recent CD).
